45 minutes from Moëlan sur mer, Auray-Saint-Goustan is a Town of Art and History that boasts two historic quarters. The upper town
is centred around Saint-Gildas church, while the lower town is situated along the river Loch.
The most picturesque side of the river is reached by crossing the four-arched stone bridge that dates back to the 13th century. There
you will admire plenty of rich-looking half -timbered and corbelled houses
A famous visitor of Saint Goustan is Benjamin Franklin! On october 26, he set sails from Philadelphia to France to negociate
support and military help for the US war of independance.
His boat had to call at Nantes but a sudden storm stopped them from going up the river Loire and they had to stop in Auray before
travelling to Vannes and Versailles. The commemorative plaque of his arrival is fixed on the facade of the Yacht bar in Saint Goustan
and the owners had the idea of asking Zigma, a street art artist to make a giant portrait of Benjamin Franklin on one of the walls
