Moelan sur Mer

Concarneau The walled city

Half an hour from Moëlan sur mer, Concarneau is the 3rd largest port in France. However, it is now devoted to tourism.

Visit the old town, the Ville Close which dates back to the 13th century. Walk along the picturesque paved streets and enjoy the half-timbered and granite medieval houses. You can walk around the remparts and admire the harbour from the fortifications.

Discover a unique museum in France: the fishing museum and its collection of maritime heritage. You can then enter a fishing boat and live the everyday life of fishermen

The market is held on Friday in the new part of the town, opposite the walled town. It sells a wide range of goods, fresh vegetables, fruit and meat but also clothes and souvenirs.

On the way back to Moêlan , stop to see the thatched cottages of the 15th century village Kerascoêt. In Breton, KER means the village therefore Kerascoët means the village of Hascoët! Walk around the main street, you will fall in love with the hydrangeas and the roses bordering the houses.Stroll past the granite bread oven which was the gathering place for the inhabitants and the well.
